    2009 Dodge Ram TRXtreme

    16th November 2008

Playing up the off-road capabilities of the 2009 Ram with the TRX package, the Mopar Underground Design Team is readying an upgraded version of Dodge’s full-size pickup truck for the SEMA Show. The Ram TRXtreme gains an extra 4.5-inches of ground clearance allowing the use of 20-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in chunky BFG 37X12.50’s.

We seriously doubt that anyone will disagree with us when we say that the most intriguing vehicle on Dodge’s SEMA show stand in Las Vegas will be the Challenger SRT10 Concept car. As you might have already guessed by now, the SRT10 has borrowed the Viper’s 8.4-liter all-aluminum V10 engine that pumps out 600 horsepower and 560 lb. ft. of torque. The ‘halo’ concept car features a new coat of vibrant Tornado Red paint with a carbon-fiber deck lid and a functional shaker hood inspired from the 1970s HEMI Cuda. -

The Dodge Challenger R/T Blacktop is yet another concept vehicle being prepared by the Mopar Underground team that will sit alongside the Viper V10-powered Challenger SRT10 (see here) and the Challenger Targa at the Dodge SEMA Show booth in Las Vegas. The Blacktop is based on the new Challenger R/T equipped with a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 and six-speed manual transmission. The V8 engine has been enhanced with the addition of Mopar components, including a cat back dual-exhaust and cold air intake. -

The new Dodge Trazesty Trazo is the fruit of Chrysler LLC and Nissan’s OEM agreement that was signed in January 2008. Apparently we’re not the only ones that think that there’s nothing ‘Dodge’ about the Nissan Versa (Tiida in Europe and Japan) as the American automaker preferred to badge the sedan as the “Trazo by Dodge”. As you can see in the image gallery after the jump, Dodge’s signature ram logo is nowhere to be found. The Trazo will be offered for sale in select Latin American markets in sedan form only equipped with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline and E100 ethanol-capable engine with both automatic and manual transmissions.

No, Dodge has not finally made the decision to create of a drop-top version of its resurrected Challenger coupe. Then what’s this? Well, since Dodge and parent Chrysler LLC have their own problems to solve, Coach Builders Limited, Inc. a Florida-based aftermarket cabriolet converter firm decided to take advantage of the automaker’s lack of will (and money) by providing open-air enthusiast with an alternative, yet somewhat costly, solution.

Since this is the first SEMA Show after the introduction of the new Challenger in Chicago this past February, we’re expecting to see Dodge’s muscle car -and we’re not kidding- in the dozens. We’ll be informing you about as many custom Challengers as possible prior to the show’s grand opening next Tuesday. One of the latest modded Challengers that we found comes from Classic Design Concepts (CDC). The Michigan-based tuner has readied a widebody version of the muscle car that gets composite front fenders and “billboard” rear flares with a larger that life HEMI logo.

We told you that this year’s SEMA motorshow will be packed with Challengers -and apparently with Camaros also, but that’s another story. Joining the two SEMA show 2009 Dodge Challenger Convertibles from Coach Builders Limited and Newport Convertible Engineering is a third topless version, from Group Five Limited. But unlike the two other proposals, Group Five’s Challenger concept is a roadster or better yet, a speedster. And as such, it features a chopped windscreen and seats only for two with the rear passenger area being hidden by a tonneau cover.

Mopar Underground’s design team deserves plenty of kudos for creating one of the nicest modded Challengers we’ve seen. The concept began life as a factory 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T equipped with a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 and 6-speed manual transmission. The crew at Mopar Underground gave the Challenger R/T a black-on-black racing stripe paint scheme and added custom-made spoilers along with altering the front clip to create added “brow” over the grill.

While the Challenger is sure to get most of the attention at SEMA, nevertheless Dodge also brought along four tricked-out Ram pickup trucks. Starting off with the Ram R/T pictured above, the concept is based on the 2009 Ram Sport with a 380HP 5.7-liter HEMI V8 and it’s supposedly inspired from the re-born Challenger. Mopar Underground painted the R/T truck in a classic B5 Blue and added a bodykit which consists of sill and box pieces, finished up with a chin spoiler, dual-snorkel aluminum hood and carbon-fiber accent stripes.

Is the U.K. auto market in such a bad condition that dealers are being forced to make supermarket-style ‘two for one’ offers in order to make a sale? Apparently yes if we are to believe a report that originated from the British newspaper Daily Mail and has swept the web, U.K. market Dodge dealers are offloading hundred of Avengers at a huge loss through price comparison websites such as ‘Broadspeed.com’. Since it was mentioned in the report, we visited the site and indeed both the Avenger and the Caliber were significantly discounted.
