By using progressively wound suspension springs, HAMANN is able to lower the center of gravity of the BMW X5 M by 30 mm. This emphasizes even more the sporty appearance of the Flash Evo M bodykit.

HAMANN offers two performance improvement systems: First, the ECU is optimized by removing the factory-installed Vmax restriction of 250 km/h. Then, power is increased from 408 kW/555 hp and 680 Nm torque to an impressive 449 kW/610 hp and a torque of 780 Nm.

For an extra kick, HAMANN supplies the HM 670 sports kit. In addition to the optimization of the ECU, a rear sports muffler and catalyst replacement pipes are being used. This way, between 1500 and 5650 RPM, the torque is increased to 950 Nm. According to the data sheet, 493 kW/670 hp are also available and ensure that the HAMANN Flash Evo M can reach a top speed of 300 km/h.

Stopping at these speeds requires additional safety, for whichN has developed a high-performance brake system, using 405 mm diameter brake discs in front and 340 mm diameter brake discs at the rear. 6-pot callipers provide the delay at the front axle, while 4-pot callipers do their work at the rear axle. Steal flex brake lines prevent the dreaded fading during high stresses.

and dynamism, effortless superiority and high tech – both of the top-of-the-line S-Class models from Mercede embody all of these characteristics. Since its market launch some three years ago, the S-Class made by A has won the hearts of over 8000 customers around the world – turning it into the undisputed market leader in the small yet highly exclusive high-performance luxury saloon segment.

Chairman of Mercedes-: “Our discerning clientele appreciate the synthesis of uncompromising performance and dynamic, exclusive equipment, a unique proposition in this market segment. We have raised the bar further in terms of driving dynamics, safety and passenger comfort with the extensively updated new series of the S 63 AMG and S 65 AMG.”

High-revving V8 engine and effortlessly superior biturbo V12 engine

The S 63 AMG, with its powerful, high-revving 386-kW/525-hp AMG 6.3-litre V8 naturally aspirated engine developing 630 newton metres of torque, is capable of accelerating to a speed of 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. The S 65 AMG, meanwhile, demonstrates even greater superiority: its AMG 6.0-litre biturbo V12 engine delivers maximum power of 450 kW/612 hp and maximum torque of 1000 newton metres, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds. Both AMG saloons are electronically limited to 250 km/h. Despite no changes having been made to the engine data and performance values, it has still been possible to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 3 percent.

Contributing to the even more exceptional status of the models is the new, more pronounced arrow-shaped radiator grille, featuring twin chromed louvres in the case of the S 65 AMG. The new front apron incorporates striking, AMG-specific LED daytime driving lights and two transverse air outlets on each side. Further striking features include the “6.3 AMG” or “V12 Biturbo” lettering on the front wings, and redesigned exterior mirrors.

Side sill panels emphasise the elegant line of the front apron through to the rear of the vehicle, where the new rear apron features yet another highlight: the centre section of the black diffuser insert is now painted in the same colour as the vehicle body. New tail lights with 52 LEDs in the form of a double “C” also give the S-Class an unmistakable appearance from behind. A distinctive element of both models comes in the guise of the AMG sports exhaust with two chromed twin tailpipes, featuring a V12 design in the case of the S 65 AMG. Visual aspects which distinguish the V8 from the V12 model also include the attractive AMG light-alloy wheels: the S 63 AMG has 19-inch AMG multi-spoke wheels painted titanium grey with a high-sheen finish and fitted with 255/40 (front) and 275/40 (rear) tyres. The S 65 AMG, on the other hand, comes with 20-inch AMG forged wheels painted titanium grey with a mirror finish and fitted with 255/35 (front) and 275/35 (rear) tyres.

Crosswind stabilisation, Torque Vectoring Brake and Direct-Steer system

The AMG sports suspension based on Active Body Control (ABC) provides crosswind stabilisation as standard equipment for the first time: thanks to this function, influences caused by crosswinds are compensated for, or – in the case of strong gusts – reduced to a minimum. ABC compensates against the effect of crosswinds by adjusting the wheel load distribution within milliseconds, using the yaw-rate and lateral acceleration sensors of the Electronic Stability Program ESP®.

Also making up the standard equipment is the new Torque Vectoring Brake: when cornering, brief direct application of the brakes has an effect on the vehicle’s inner rear wheel so that the saloon corners precisely and under control at all times. The Torque Vectoring Brake is an additional feature of the Electronic Stability Program ESPnd not only noticeably improves responsiveness but also active handling safety in critical conditions. The driving experience is further heightened thanks to the Direct-Steer system: with its variable ratio depending on steering angle, it helps to ensure a more direct response when cornering, and therefore more responsive handling

successful Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG is now more attractive than ever: the modified design of the top-of-the-range C-Class model is complemented by numerous enhancements to its technology which deliver even more driving enjoyment while reducing fuel consumption significantly. The introduction of the AMG SHIFT sports transmission with the “Controlled Efficiency” mode as standard along with a new power steering pump helps to reduce the combined NEDC fuel consumption by about ten percent to 12.0 l/100 km(Estate: 12.3 l/100 km). The output of the AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine is unchanged at 336 kW (457 hp) and can be increased to a maximum of 358 kW (487 hp) with the optional AMG Performance package. Agility, grip and ride comfort have been enhanced as a result of numerous measures to optimise the AMG sports suspension. New assistance systems and a new generation of telematics with internet access increase both safety and he latest 2011 generation of the C 63 AMG is now more dynamic and athletic than ever. Thanks to its new radiator grille with a large Mercedes star and a wing-type transverse louvre, as well as a new AMG front apron with a lower cross member painted in high-gloss black, special AMG daytime running lights and side air outlets, the front section recalls the look of the SL 63 AMG high-performance roadster. The new bonnet with its modified powerdomes is now made of aluminium. New clear-lens headlamps emphasise the car’s distinctive, self-confident presence, especially when the optional Intelligent Light System (ILS) is also specified. The wide front wings with the “6.3 AMG” legend and the new 5 twin-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels which are painted in titanium grey and have a high-sheen finish dominate the side view. Good contact with the road is provided by the wide 235/40 R 18 and 255/35 R 18 tyres at front and rear respectively.1 February 2011

The rear view of the C 63 AMG also evokes the SL 63 AMG: the new AMG rear apron has a distinctive, black diffuser insert with three pronounced diffuser fins. The two chromed twin tailpipes of the AMG sports exhaust system are as pleasing to the ear as they are to the eye.

Under the skin, too, the top C-Class model boasts a wealth of new technology including the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission - another advanced feature adopted from the SL 63 AMG. Rather than using a torque converter, this innovative transmission has a wet start-off clutch which allows it to deliver a much more efficient, agile and direct response. Fuel consumption and emissions have been reduced significantly thanks to the “Controlled Efficiency” mode and a new power steering pump: at 12.0 litres per 100 km (Estate: 12.3 l/100 km) the combined NEDC fuel consumption of the C 63 AMG is 1.4 litres (Estate: 1.3 litres) lower than that of the predecessor model; this represents a reduction in fuel consumption of some ten percent. The CO2 emissions figure is now 280 (Estate: 288) grams per kilometre. Both power variants have identical fuel consumption and emission figures.

-speed sports transmission impresses with its exceptional flexibility: with four driving modes as well as double-declutching and RACE START functions it is as compatible with a relaxed, fuel-saving driving style as it is with high-speed laps on a closed racing circuit and extremely dynamic

overtaking manoeuvres. The Controlled Efficiency “C” mode is programmed to provide early, comfortable upshifts while maintaining the lowest possible engine speed to help the driver keep fuel consumption down. The “S”, “S+” and “M” modes deliver increased agility through fast, responsive gear changes and higher revs. Gear changes in the “S+” and “M” modes take just 100 comfort.

The ultimate American performance car icon: Dodge Viper SRT10
For the final year of production for the current generation Dodge Viper SRT10, Dodge plans to deliver a vehicle lineup like no other since the introduction of the iconic American sports car in 1992.

The heart of the 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 remains the venerable 8.4-liter (510 cu. in.) V-10 engine that produces 600 (450 kW) horsepower and 560 lb.-ft. (760 N•m) of torque. Benchmark performance numbers, including 0-60 mph in less than 4 seconds, quarter-mile time in the mid 11-second range and 0-100-0 mph in 11 seconds flat and a top speed of 202 mph, continue to prove how the serious, race-inspired, street-legal two-seater performs without apology.

Body style offerings remain unchanged with the availability of Roadster and Coupe models along with the ACR (American Club Racer) package. Approximately 500 vehicles will be built for the 2010 model year.

With the introduction of two new exterior colors, Toxic Orange Pearl Coat and Bright Silver Metallic Clear Coat, Dodge Viper SRT10 is now available in 12 different colors, the most regularly available choices in one model year. And with six stripe options in the new wider configuration, five different interior color combinations, four different wheel choices and three available interior bezels; the 2010 Viper SRT10 will be available in more than 7,600 combinations — the most for any one model year — significantly adding to the exclusivity of each car like never before.
New across the Viper lineup is a shorter fifth gear ratio (changing from 0.74 to 0.80) for improved high-speed acceleration and higher straightaway speeds. Acceleration from 0-200 mph has improved by 14 seconds. This improvement is a direct result of the Chrysler Group LLC Street and Racing Technology team’s experience at the 12.9-mile Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit in Germany, where during the lap-record run in 2008, it was found that a revised gear ratio would have resulted in higher top gear acceleration and a quicker lap time.

    Viper SRT10 ACR
The Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR receives a new short-throw shifter in 2010 for enhanced driver experience and better performance. The rear wing profile and end plates are redesigned to further optimize the vehicle aerodynamics and improve rear yaw downforce. These changes, combined with the new fifth gear ratio, result in an increased top speed of 4 mph (to 184 mph for the ACR model).
The enhanced four-wheel independent suspension features high-performance aluminum control arms and knuckles, and KW suspension with two-way adjustable competition coil-over shock absorbers with remote reservoirs.
The aerodynamic package features a carbon fiber “fanged” splitter in front and adjustable carbon-fiber wing with seven-position stanchions that allow as much as 1,000 lbs. of downforce at 150 mph. is bringing the iconic Dodge Challenger muscle car to National Hot Road Association (NHRA) drag-racing competition. Mopar revealed two Dodge Challenger Drag Race Package Cars at the 29th Annual Mopar Mile-High Nationals today before thrilled fans at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colo. Mopar Mile-High Nationals is the longest-running NHRA sponsorship.

“Big Daddy” Don Garlits and Judy “Miss Mighty Mopar” Lilly were behind the wheels for their inaugural track run. Garlits drove the car featuring the Stone White paint scheme. Lilly was behind the wheel of the “Mopar Liquid Metal” prototype. NHRA named Garlits the #1 driver of the Top 50 drivers from its first 50 years. His victories and accomplishments are virtually unmatched in drag-racing history. “Miss Mighty Mopar” is one of the female pioneers in drag racing. Spending 12 years on the NHRA circuit, Lilly is the only female driver to win two NHRA national events in one year.

Mopar built the first two Challenger Drag Race Package Cars for development and testing for its new Challenger Package Car program. Based on the Challenger SRT8®, the prototypes were finished in Stock Eliminator configuration. They ran successfully in June 2008 as proof-of-concept and for NHRA certification. Mopar dropped approximately 1,000 lbs. off the production Challenger SRT8 by eliminating major production components and systems. To accentuate the weight savings, they also feature added composite, polycarbonate and lightweight components designed for drag racing that will be part of the new Package Car program.

The engine was repositioned to improve driveline angle and weight distribution. The 116-inch wheelbase was shortened by ? inch. They also feature a front cradle with bolt-in crossmember and solid engine mounts.

“Today is a great day for Mopar, Dodge, SRT, drag racers and motorsports enthusiasts everywhere. Not made for the streets, our drag-race-only Challengers will be running soon in NHRA competition—the best grassroots racing series in the world,” said Sunil Lahoti, Mopar Marketing and Brand Manager, Chrysler LLC. “And who better to drive our new Challenger Package Cars on their inaugural track run than ‘Big Daddy’ and ‘Miss Mighty Mopar’—the greatest drag racer of all time and a female pioneer of the sport.”

New Dodge Challenger Drag Race Package Car Program by Mopar

The first drag-race, factory-prepped package cars built in 40 years, the new Challenger Drag Race Package Car by Mopar builds on the heritage of the limited-edition 1968 HEMI®-powered Package Cars. Those ‘68 Dodge Darts and Plymouth Barracudas solidified the Mopar brand as a quarter-mile force.

Mopar will build a minimum of 100 Challenger Drag Race Package Cars to meet NHRA requirements. Based on the production Dodge Challenger SRT8, Mopar’s modern factory-prepped Challenger Drag Race Package Car will begin as a special Body-in-White (BIW) from Chrysler’s Brampton, Ontario, Canada, assembly plant. The body sealer, sound deadener and undercoat will be eliminated. To reduce vehicle weight, major production component and systems will also be eliminated including: windshield wiper assembly, complete HVAC system, all airbag components, rear seats, power steering system, exhaust system and underbody heat shields, cross-car and side impact door beams, rear bumper beam and rear deck lid spoiler.

The drag racer has three engine options—6.1-liter or 5.7-liter HEMI or 5.9-liter Magnum® Wedge—as well as manual or automatic transmission.

A build book/owner’s manual will be provided to document the modifications made to the Challenger SRT8 as well as provide recommendations to finish the Package Car for Stock Eliminator competition. To accentuate weight savings, there are unique drag-race components in the Package Car program including: composite lift-off hood with functional scoop, Viper-style front seats, polycarbonate door windows, lightweight cooling module with electric fan, manual rack and pinion steering, special cable-operated deck lid release, special lightweight front brake assembly and special cable-operated throttle linkage and pedal assembly.

The Challenger Drag Race Package Car will be eligible to run in three Eliminator categories—Comp, Super Stock and Stock—and potentially 40 classes.

Depending upon the configuration selected, the U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the Challenger Drag Race Package Car program will range from the low to mid $30s. Each car will carry an identification plate with sequential serial number.

The Challenger Drag Race Package Car will be available for order in late August to early September. A toll-free number will be designated for ordering. Details will be posted on www.mopar.com.

e legendary Miura name (brought back by the house of the Raging Bull) has a retro-inspired look, inherited from one of the automotive world’s most famous icons - Miura. In 2006 North American International Auto Show Lamborghini introduced the new Miura concept. In honor of the 40th anniversary of the 1966 Geneva, where the original Miura was introduced to the public for the first time. It was fully redesigned while keeping every aspect of the original sports car Miura form intact. Up to this day, the legendary Miura is still recognized as one of the most beautiful cars ever created. The new model is strictly a concept car with no scheduled date set for the launch for the mass production.

ome Geneva Auto Show with the excitement of a new ‘roadster with attitude.’ The sensational 2007 Dodge Demon Concept car is on the way to lure the young car sports enthusiasts with its entry in the Geneva Auto Show scheduled in the early March 2007. Dodge’s new sports car comes with a bigger difference- the 2007 Dodge Demon is going to be smaller, cheaper and at the same time potential enough to yield a 172 HP with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine.

Dodge Demon is an answer to the worrying concerns of the rising fuel price and the environmental hazards. The four-cylinder engine is capable of yielding a six-speed manual transmission.

The elegant interior of the Demon concept car is an inspiration from the old British sports car models. The new roadster promises a lot of fun with its interior modifications suitable for a thrilling driving experience. The cute carbon black cabin is decorated with three-spoke steering wheel and four-gauge cluster. The stitching on the seats has the smooth but contrasting pattern to appeal the eyes; the seams on the dashboard, door panels and seats are done with silver threads.

Unlike the typical cars, the console of the sports car Dodge Demon is not attached to the instrument panel; rather it is controlled by a silver and black manual shift knob. The instrument panel is equipped with all trendy instruments- the gauges, circular AC outlets, radio, etc.- enclosed by a gauzed aluminum bezel. There is a raised plateau at the rear of the console that is provided with a storage bin. The portion of the console under the instrument panel serves as an open storage space.

The exterior of the concept car Demon reminds you of the classic Dodge cars. The brawny lines, the gauzy aluminum grill, and the 19-inch aluminum wheels- all add flavor to the contemporary Dodge Demon. On the other hand, the projector headlamps and the hood add the traditional styles of the British cars.

But why the name ‘Demon’? Doesn’t it sound a bit evilish? Yes, with the new style and the angry-looking face, it is going to be devilish to its competitors on the road. The small cute body of this sports car offers a new challenge to the so-called muscular Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky. The Demon weighs about 250 pounds less than the mentioned sports cars. It makes a huge difference while performing!

Is Mazda Miata, the roadster that ruled the road for the past few years, listening? With the little Demon offering new challenges, the veteran roadster now has a reason to worry and needs to really push hard to reach the finishing line with its 2.0L four-cylinder engine.

Dodge recently unveiled its Caliber concept at the Geneva Auto Show. We don’t know if this thing is an SUV, sport compact, or something in between. All we know is that this thing is pretty cool.
Dodge is remaining very tight-lipped about the Caliber concept. As such, we don’t know what kind of engine will power it, what the estimated power numbers will be or what type of transmissions will be offered. Dod
ge also hasn’t said anything about what types of features it plans to pack in the Caliber.
What we do know is this: the Caliber is supposed to hint at Dodge’s future plans for the C-segment of vehicles. Dodge is claiming that the new Caliber concept “brings emotion to the C-segment sea of sameness”. Dodge is also claiming that the Caliber’s design strongly hints at what’s to come from the house of Viper.
We also know that the Caliber is designed to be Dodge’s direction in the global car market. What this means, we’re not entirely sure. But we’d venture to guess that Dodge wants to build its brand in foreign markets, and the Caliber is going to be the vehicle that does it.
We rarely see any Dodge vehicles when we venture out of the country, and if we do, it is just a U.S. market vehicle imported from the U.S. It would be interesting to see just how Dodge’s new C-segment vehicle fares in European and Asian markets…
We think the Caliber would do well, as it has some very unique (and bitchin’) styling. It shares the same front end as the rest of its Dodge brethren, there’s no denying that. The Caliber’s aggressive stance over it’s massive 19-inch wheels gives it a strong resemblance to its Magnum sibling. There is definitely a bit of the Dodge truck DNA in the Caliber’s appearance, too.
